Turfgrass delivers predictable and pleasing landscape results. It's easy to specify and easy for contractors to work with.
It's good for the environment and good for people. The three main grades of turf are described below.
Providing the basis for very accurate and fast playing surfaces like bowling greens and golf greens and super smooth lawns.
Fine Turf Mixture
Brown Top Bent
Tolerates very close mowing and has good winter colour, but
has a low resistance to disease and is not very hard wearing.
Chewing's Fescue
A more tufted grass, which starts growth early in the spring
and falls off in the late summer, compared to…
Slender Creeping Red Fescue
Not tufted, but has a rhizomatous habit of growth, which
starts later in the spring and continues in to autumn,
complimenting a mix containing the two varieties.
It has excellent salt tolerance too.
Strong Creeping Red Fescue
Quite a vigorous grass that does not withstand close mowing,
has a lower shoot density than the other two fescues, but
does recover well.
For areas which take a harder pounding such as domestic lawns, city squares, football pitches.
Medium Fine Turf Mixture
Dwarf Perennial Ryegrass
Superior wear tolerance, fast establishment from seed, great
all year round colour and has a high resistance to many
diseases. Can be mown quite close, especially the more modern
super fine dwarf perennial varieties.
Smooth Stalked Meadow Grass
Good colour, especially in the summer months, durable and has
vegetative propagation qualities, quite hardy.
Slender Creeping Red Fescue
Strong Creeping Red Fescue
Chewing's Fescue
Really tough turf that can withstand heavy wear and tear, but also the extremes of our changing climatic conditions.
Heavy Duty Turf Mixture
Rhizomatous Tall Fescue
This is a hard wearing self renewing turfgrass variety. Because it produces deep rhizomes it is extremely drought tolerant, copes well under water and is also tolerant of shade. Fantastically durable, saline tolerant and has a high tensile strength.
Dwarf Perennial Ryegrass
With 3 or 4 different cultivars making 100% of the mixture.
Smooth Stalked Meadow Grass
Crested Hair Grass
Superb drought tolerance, good shoot density and has an extremely
low nutrient requirement once established. This grass could be
used in low maintenance lawns and landscapes, which can reduce
labour and consumable inputs or difficult to access areas
such as roundabouts, embankments and roof gardens.
